St Mary’s School Wellbeing Talk March 2025

In March, Wellbeing Coach Brian and the CEO Shirley-Anne Gardiner had the privilege of presenting at St Mary’s College Parents Evening, sharing insights on mental wellbeing and supporting those in distress. Shirley-Anne spoke about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, offering practical strategies for maintaining mental and emotional health, while Brian provided guidance on having difficult conversations with someone in distress.

One of the key themes the team explored was perspective—how every generation tends to view youth as “troublesome.” Even Plato (300 BCE) once lamented:
“What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, disobey their parents… Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?”

It’s a reminder that the concerns we have today are not new! The session was well received, and we’re excited about the possibility of returning to present to students soon.

Safer Toowoomba Regional Partnership’s (STRP) Interagency Meeting 5 June 2025

On Thursday, 5 June 2025, Momentum took part in the quarterly Interagency event held at the Wilsonton Heights Neighbourhood Centre (WHNC), hosted by Safer Toowoomba Regional Partnerships (STRP).

With around thirty organisations in attendance, the event provided a fantastic opportunity to strengthen local connections and showcase the work Momentum is doing across the region. We received several positive mentions from other attendees, highlighting the impact of our presence in the community.

The event featured three engaging guest speakers:

•Walkabout Barbers – a NSW-based Indigenous organisation combining mobile barbering with mental health first aid;

•Lives Lived Well – sharing updates on their ongoing support services; and

•WHNC – presenting a great update on their social prescribing initiative.
