Expressions of Interest – Cultural Safety Advisory Group (Voluntary)

Momentum Mental Health is committed to providing services that are culturally safe, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse communities we serve.

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest to join our newly established Cultural Safety Advisory Group.

This group will play an important role in providing strategic guidance and advice to ensure our policies, programs, and practices reflect best practice in cultural safety—particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

About the Role

Advisory Group members will:

  • Provide guidance on cultural safety across programs and services
  • Contribute to policy and practice development
  • Support culturally safe approaches to working with children, young people, and vulnerable people
  • Identify and help mitigate cultural risks
  • Strengthen awareness and capability across the organisation

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome Expressions of Interest from:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Individuals with cultural knowledge, lived experience, or expertise in cultural safety
  • Community leaders or those with governance experience (desirable but not essential)

Commitment

  • Voluntary role
  • Quarterly meetings (in-person or virtual)
  • 3-year term (with staggered appointments)

Momentum Mental Health is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and rights of children and young people are at the centre of everything we do.

We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest for our Child Safety and Wellbeing Governance Committee. This is a voluntary position and an opportunity to contribute to strong governance and oversight of child-safe practices across our organisation.

This Committee plays a critical role in ensuring Momentum meets its obligations under the Child Safe Standards in Queensland and the Universal Principle, while fostering a culture that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

About the Role

Committee members will contribute to:

  • Governance and Oversight
    Supporting robust child safety governance aligned with legislative requirements
  • Policy Development and Review
    Reviewing and strengthening child safety and wellbeing policies
  • Risk Management
    Identifying and mitigating risks to children across programs and services
  • Culture and Awareness
    Promoting a strong child-safe culture across staff, volunteers, and leadership
  • Monitoring and Reporting
    Reviewing reports, incidents, and compliance to support continuous improvement

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome Expressions of Interest from individuals with:

  • Experience or interest in child safety, child protection, or governance
  • Backgrounds in community services, legal, education, or health sectors
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Child Safe Standards
  • A commitment to safeguarding children and young people

We particularly value diverse perspectives, including cultural and community representation.
