A member perspective on the transition from Clubhouse to Momentum by David Fredericks.

July 21, 2021

I have been attending this organisation since it first began as Toowoomba Clubhouse. My first tour date was 31 July 1997, so I have seen a lot of changes in that time.

As a founding member and mainstay of the Frontline unit, I originally helped members with their computer skills under the stewardship of first director Bryce Alcock, and in 2005 produced the first website version for the organisation.

In later years I would work with director Luke Terry before the current CEO commenced in the role.

I like CEO Deb’s initiative of changing the name to Momentum, for the word shows that the organisation is moving towards a better outcome for all the members.

It is great that now the members can focus and work on their mental health recovery, rather than stagnate.

I’m now exploring ways I can connect with my community outside of Clubhouse/Momentum. I’ve started to work with my wellbeing coach to do this and am looking forward to connecting with more of the Toowoomba community.
